Tiny Christmas Trees and Roly-Poly Santas:
I would suggest making a double batch to begin with if you are planning to make both the trees and the Santas or a single batch will only make a few of each, depending on their size(ours were a little big).

1 cup margarine or butter(softened, not melted)
2/3 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
2 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
yellow, green, and red food coloring
colored sugar

Beat the butter til soft, add sugar and beat til fluffy. Add almond extract and mix. Add flour and beat til well mixed. Remove about 2 tablespoons of the dough and knead in the yellow food coloring. Remove about 1 cup and leave it white for Santa. Divide the rest evenly and color 1/2 of it green and 1/2 of it red. From there you just get creative and roll it all into small balls. Build a pyramid for trees with a yellow on top and a trunk on bottom. Use chocolate chip eyes and buttons for Santa and sprinkles for the trees before baking.

Bake at 325* for 12-15 min. or til edges are firm and bottoms are lightly browned.

Frosting for Santa:
Beat 1/2 cup shortening and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla(almond extract) for 30 seconds. Gradually add 1 & 1/3 cups powdered sugar, mixing well. Add 1 tablespoon milk. Gradually beat in 1 cup additional sifted powdered sugar and enough milk (3-4 teaspoons) to make frosting of piping consistency.
