1st Piano Recital

Toby had his first piano recital this past Saturday and I am so proud of him. He has really been learning quickly but he has an amazing teacher(who also happens to be one of my best friends!) so I’m not really surprised! Thursday night he was having a hard time settling into sleep and finally asked me if we could chat because he was “kind of freaking out about the recital!” Oh, I remember that feeling! This was him waiting for his to turn to take the stage! He sat and fiddled with his little calculator the entire time and I could just see the anticipation building. He was half-way through on the schedule and did a great job! He played one song by himself and then played a duet with his teacher. He had them both memorized but took his books up “just in case.”

Afterwards it was like the big relief! I remember that feeling too. It was such a great opportunity for him to get through that fear and experience the fun of doing it and achieving what he had practiced so hard for.
Lilly sat and wrote on the back of the program, “Lilly Campbell is next.” She was all set to play Twinkle-Twinkle just like Toby taught her! Maybe next year.

Toby is getting into this music thing. He and Mark even built a drum set out back!
