We had a really great Easter weekend. From that weekend on it has been a whirlwind of activity so I am just now getting around to getting pictures off the camera while catching up with so many things. More to come on that later.
The kids and I colored eggs a few days before Easter. We experimented with some natural dyes like coffee and beet juice. Before the eggs were even all colored they were being eaten!
We had several late nights leading up to Eater Sunday because of Thursday and Friday services and then the Easter Vigil Saturday night. The kids loved the vigil and were especially excited to see our neighbor/friend join the church. But Sunday morning they were up bright and early as always in anticipation of their yearly scavenger hunt to find their Easter baskets. They had to work hard this year!
The quote of the day came from Lilly when the last clue talked about Jesus and remembering the reason we celebrate Easter. She exclaimed, “The Easter Bunny knows about Jesus!!” So sweet.
They found lots of great goodies in their baskets. Toby was super excited to find a special book in there for him that he has been wanting and asking for, a daily devotional with the saints. Since they both gave up candy for Lent they were thrilled to find some of that too.
The hula hoops were a huge hit. I still can’t get over how good they both are at doing it!
We spent the afternoon with my family at my parents’ home eating, eating and eating, oh and the kids hunted for eggs too! Then we spent the evening relaxing with Mark’s mom, sisters and their families back here at the homestead. We are so lucky to have all of our family so close and to be able to celebrate special occasions like this with so many of them.
