Welcoming the cool autumn weather has me relishing at the opportunity to do some major fall cleaning and rearranging, changing out clothes, bringing up hats, coats and mittens, and then the laundry…. Try as I might to stay on top and ahead of it all, the list never ends, the mess is always at my

Unplanned Lessons

Today was a perfect example of how much learning takes place outside of workbooks, paper and pencil. Sure we did the usual phonics, reading, calendar, math, singing, more reading, etc. but these things just literally happened and they are some of my favorite lessons of the day! We have been reading(by request) the story of

God just stopped by...

I was standing in the bathroom this morning getting myself ready for the day when I heard this conversation in T’s room(in half whispering, awed voices): T: Oh my goodness, come here you have to see this! L: What? Where? T: Come look out my window, God is out there. L: Whoa! Where?(Shuffling sounds as

"God put it there for me!"

After several unsuccessful attempts, T recently caught a butterfly! I watched it happen and was quite surprised by it all as he was hardly quiet in sneaking up on it, not to mention he used a net with a 4 inch handle that is actually more for scooping things out of water. When the excitement

Personal Growth

So, this time it really is closing in on a week since my last post. I would apologize but I’m really not sure that anyone cares. That’s the hard part about blogging, it’s pretty one-sided. I type away and pour out my deep dark secrets(ok not really) and never have any idea if anyone even

This is how we do it

My friend Lynn came over last week and witnessed the crafting that goes on here. I’m not sure if she wanted to run or join in! We finally finished our melted crayon shavings letters and hearts and were able to add a couple of heart chains to decorate the window for February. I don’t have

Fall fun

I have officially broken in our recently repaired oven. I was very anxious and quite frankly, scared to death when I turned it on, but I started slowly. My first experiment was with these color-cookies and they only required preheating. You actually turn the oven off before you put them in to melt. Very fun
