Finding Hope and Healing (With or Without a Rainbow)
For this post, we will share our experiences with longing for another baby to fill our empty arms. Some experienced a subsequent pregnancy after loss. Some may be fearful of embarking on that journey again. Some may not [...]

The Comparison Trap
Mothers often fall into the trap of comparing ourselves to one another. This is a trap many women fall into. We compare our families, mothering styles, fashion sense, careers or lack thereof, bodies, etc. Even mothers with [...]
Clinging in the Pit
If you are not new to loss, talk a bit about early grief. What was it like, clinging for hope in the pits of despair? What did you cling to for hope? How did you survive the early days? What helped? What do you [...]
I am thankful for the idea of the 7 quick takes because right now I seem to either have a brain scattered with random thoughts or I am obsessively focused on one thing in particular.
Right now it’s all a jumbled mess.

It’s not that I haven’t felt thankful. But I am in a funk. The holidays, the lack of sleep, the never-ending to-do list, the cleaning and laundry that I can’t seem to get a grip on, the emotions that vary from minute to minute. Exhausting. But today I choose to look back at this month [...]

As the evening progressed more of our family started to come and go. Toby and Lilly were brought down to visit too. We wanted to be up front and honest with them throughout the process. I didn’t want them to be any [...]

We are experiencing a HEAT WAVE, yes in big letters, this week here in the midwest. Being 6 months pregnant and having 2 very outdoorsy type of kids we have been doing our best to beat the heat and stay busy inside as much as possible.
We’ve been cleaning, organizing, rearranging and admiring Lilly’s [...]

Our Heavenly Homestead follows our family’s journey to slow down, simplify, live a more sustainable life, be debt free, and most importantly — learn and grow together.
We cook from scratch, hang our laundry, pay cash as much as possible, keep bees, raise chickens, garden, home school and so much more. We don't mind a little hard work and dirt under the nails if it brings us closer to God and each other.
We don't claim to be experts. We're just an average mid-western family striving to live a simple life. Our first priority is to always love and serve our Lord and to honor Him in our daily actions.
